IPL 2026 Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) vs Punjab Kings (PBKS) Playing 11, Squad, Captain & Players List Today Match Updates:
Punjab Kings have undergone the sort of collapse this season that could be a contender for one of the greatest ever in the history of the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) league stage and their destruction could be complete if they lose to the Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday. Even a victory wouldn’t be enough to guarantee a spot in the top four at the end of all the league matches but that is the bare minimum they need to stay in the race.
All this for a team that had not lost any of their first seven games and looked a shoo-in for a playoff spot even before the last quarter of the league stage started, perhaps even a top-placed finish. The wheels have come off quite spectacularly for PBKS but on Saturday, they will be up against a team which is probably the only one having a worse time than them with regards to public relations. Even the lack of pressure in their last few games after having been eliminated from the race for playoffs early on hasn’t resulted in them finding any consistency.
LSG vs PBKS Predicted XIIs
LSG Probable XII: Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis, Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Abdul Samad, Ayush Badoni, Shahbaz Ahmed, Mohsin Khan, Mayank Yadav, Akash Singh, Prince Yadav, Digvesh Rathi
PBKS Probable XII: Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh (wk), Cooper Connolly, Shreyas Iyer (c), Suryansh Shedge, Marcus Stoinis, Shashank Singh, Azmatullah Omarzai, Harpreet Brar, Lockie Ferguson, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal
LSG vs PBKS, IPL 2026:
Punjab Kings will take on the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their final league game of IPL 2026 at the Ekana Stadium in a bid to arrest their slide as a playoffs spot remains up for grasps. With only 13 points under their belt and having lost six consecutive games, Punjab Kings cannot afford a slip-up against the Super Giants, who are already eliminated but will play without any pressure. As such, the likes of Mitchell Marsh, Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh are in focus.
Mohammed Shami – likely to play today
Lucknow Super Giants’pace spearhead Mohammed Shami’s mysterious omission from the match against the Rajasthan Royals created plenty of buzz. The reason regarding his omission also went unanswered as Super Giants’ skipper Rishabh Pant seemed zoned out as he couldn’t provide a clarification about the same when asked Ian Bishop at the toss. Since there has been no injury news about the veteran pacer either, he is likely to play on Saturday.

Mitchell Marsh – not playing today
Mitchell Marsh, LSG’s highest run-getter with 563 runs, including a swashbuckling century against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will not be available for their final league game. With the all-rounder appointed captain for the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan on May 30, he has reportedly left for Pakistan to prepare for the same. Therefore, it leaves a massive void in the Super Giants’ batting order as they look to finish their season on a high.
Punjab Kings will hope to come all guns blazing when it takes on Lucknow Super Giants in what is a do-or-dies match for the Shreyas Iyer-led side in the last league match of the IPL 2026 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday.

Raghuwanshi, Naman Tiwari, Avesh Khan

Punjab Kings enter a must-win clash against Lucknow Super Giants with their IPL 2026 playoff hopes hanging by a thread after six successive defeats. PBKS had dominated the first half of the season but have collapsed badly in recent weeks, especially due to poor bowling and fielding performances.
Despite their struggles, PBKS can still qualify for the playoffs if they beat LSG and results from other matches, involving Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, go in their favourite.
The team’s bowling has been a major concern, with Arshdeep Singh, Lockie Ferguson and Yuzvendra Chahal failing to consistently deliver. Marco Jansen was even dropped for the RCB game. On the positive side, Azmatullah Omarzai has impressed, while Shashank Singh regained form with a fifty.
PBKS are also worried about captain Shreyas Iyer’s dip in form, though their explosive opening pair of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh remains vital to their chances.

Meanwhile, LSG have shown flashes of batting strength despite inconsistent results. Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis have been in excellent form, while Nicholas Pooran is gradually finding rhythm again. However, LSG’s middle-order collapses and inexperienced bowling attack continued to hurt them.
Questions also remain surrounding Rishabh Pant as both captain and batter, with LSG set to miss the playoffs for a third straight season. Still, they will look to end their campaign on a positive note with a win over PBKS.
