The doors of Kedarnath Dham were opened for devotees on Wednesday, April 22, at 8 am on the Shashthi Tithi of Vaishakh Shukla and in the Taurus ascendant, with Vedic chanting and rituals.

The doors of Baba Kedarnath Dham have been opened for devotees at 8 am today. As soon as the doors opened, chants of Har Har Mahadev echoed all around and the entire atmosphere became filled with Shiva.

Kedarnath is one of the Char Dham pilgrimages. This journey is considered very important from religious and spiritual point of view. Kedarnath Dham is situated on the banks of Mandakini River in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. It is considered the most sacred of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Shiva.

It is believed that visiting Kedarnath Dham leads to freedom from sins, spiritual purification and attainment of salvation. This is why millions of devotees embark on this sacred and spiritual journey every year.

The doors of the world famous Shri Kedarnath Dham were opened for the devotees on Wednesday morning at exactly 8 am in the auspicious time with Vedic chanting and rituals. With this, the Kedarnath Yatra was formally inaugurated.

State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was also present on this auspicious occasion of opening of the doors. During this time, thousands of devotees witnessed this historic moment and the entire Dham was filled with devotional atmosphere. During the opening of the doors, a grand flower shower was done on the temple from a helicopter, which further increased the enthusiasm and faith of the devotees.

Religious rituals began in the morning.


The religious rituals began around 4 a.m. After the Panchmukhi Doli (five-headed doli) was duly worshipped, the deity’s doli was brought to the temple courtyard, where preparations for opening the doors were completed as per the prescribed procedure.

The doors opened at 8 o’clock.


As soon as the temple doors opened at 8 o’clock, the five-headed palanquin of the deity was first brought into the sanctum sanctorum, and after all the religious formalities, Lord Kedarnath was duly seated.

Devotees from across the country and abroad have come to visit Baba Kedarnath. With this grand event, a stream of devotees from across the country and abroad has begun to visit Baba Kedarnath. This wonderful confluence of faith, belief, and devotion filled the entire Kedarnath Dham with spiritual energy.

The doors of Kedarnath Dham were opened for devotees at 8 am today after the rituals and prayers as per the scheduled time. This time the Dham has been decorated grandly with about 51 quintals of flowers. A large number of devotees from India and abroad reached the shrine. On the occasion of opening of the doors, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also reached the Dham and performed puja.

The Panchmukhi Chal Vigraha Utsav Doli of Baba Kedar reached Kedarnath Dham at around 4:30 pm on Tuesday. The palanquin started from Omkareshwar Temple, Ukhimath and covered a 17 km journey on foot and reached Kedarnath via Junglechatti, Rambada, Chhote-Bade Lincholi and Base Camp.

As soon as it reached the temple premises, thousands of devotees gave a grand welcome to the palanquin by showering flowers and chanting Har Har Mahadev and Jai Baba Kedar. The palanquin circumambulated the temple and entered the storehouse, where ritual worship was performed.

During this time, the entire Dham became filled with Shiva with the melodious tunes of the band of 8th Sikhlai Regiment and the echo of Damru and musical instruments. Police and ITBP maintain tight security during this time. The Kedarnath Yatra will officially commence with the opening of the doors.

To witness the opening of the doors, a large number of devotees including BKTCC President Hemant Dwivedi, Priest T. Gangadhar Ling, Kedar Sabha President Rajkumar Tiwari, District Magistrate and BKTC Chief Executive Officer Vishal Mishra, Superintendent of Police Neharika Tomar, Pilgrim Priest Umesh Posti, BKTC Member Dr. Vineet Posti reached the Dham.

The journey to Kedarnath Dham will start from 22 April 2026 and will continue for the next 6 months. Registration is mandatory for this pilgrimage. Individuals over 55 years of age are also required to undergo a medical checkup.

After the doors of Kedarnath Dham are opened, the doors of Badrinath temple will also be opened for devotees tomorrow i.e. on 23rd April at 6.15 am in Brahmamuhurta. The doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines were already opened with due rituals on April 19th, Akshaya Tritiya.

A person can only reach Kedarnath Dham when Baba himself calls them! Many people get this opportunity several times in their lives, while many others always wait for Baba’s call. Ansh also shows the Doli in this video, showing the Kedarnath temple and its surroundings. His friend explains about this palanquin, “This is the statue of Guru Shankaracharya, who founded and built the temple here. This palanquin contains his statue and is currently performing the parikrama. Then it will return to the resting place.”
