UP Weather :

The double attack of fog and ‘cold day’ will again make the common life miserable in Uttar Pradesh. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted this. It is estimated that on Saturday (January 17), a white sheet of fog will again be seen in the morning in most of the cities of the state. In some places, fog with zero visibility will also prevail. It is worth noting that in the past 24 hours, the minimum temperature in Ayodhya, Kanpur, Bijnor, and Hardoi was recorded at 4 degrees Celsius. Cold day-like conditions may also prevail in these districts. According to the information received from the regional weather centre located at Amausi in Lucknow, on January 17, there will be dense fog in many districts of Eastern UP along with Western UP. Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has also issued an alert regarding cold day. Similar conditions will prevail in many districts of the state on January 18th. On January 22, there may be light rain at some places in western Uttar Pradesh. Fog will prevail from Ghaziabad to Ballia.

It is predicted that on Saturday, dense fog will be seen in Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Meerut, Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Baghpat, Hapur, Sambhal, Badaun, Rampur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Kanpur, Kannauj, Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Ballia, Ghazipur, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Unnao, Azamgarh. Dense fog will prevail in Lucknow. The weather in the capital city of Lucknow has taken a major turn. On Saturday (January 17th), Lucknow’s morning will begin with dense fog. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert regarding this. It is estimated that the minimum temperature in Lucknow today will be 7 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature will be 20 degrees Celsius. UP Weather

Temperatures will drop rapidly. Professor Manoj Kumar Srivastava, a meteorologist at Banaras Hindu University, said that over the next two days, there will be a rapid change in maximum temperatures in many districts of Uttar Pradesh, which will increase the cold. However, it will fall again in the next two to three days. There will be no significant change after that.

Due to continuous good sunshine for about a week in the capital and surrounding districts, the day temperature remained around normal, but on Friday the weather suddenly changed and due to dense fog in the morning, visibility was recorded at 150 meters in many areas. For the second consecutive day, Lucknow‘s minimum temperature remained below six degrees Celsius and people shivered at 5.8 degrees Celsius.

The day temperature reached 19.6 degrees. Thursday was the coldest night of the season with 5.5 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog will prevail in eastern Uttar Pradesh including Lucknow and surrounding areas for the next three days. However, during this period, fluctuations in maximum and minimum temperatures will continue.

Hardoi, Kanpur, and Ayodhya experienced the coldest nights.

According to senior meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh, dense fog will prevail from Saturday to Monday. Chills will persist in the mornings and evenings. In such a situation, there is no hope of relief from cold till next week. However, after 10 am the effect of fog will reduce and there are chances of sunshine also. On Friday, as the fog increased, people were seen warming themselves by bonfires. However, around 10:15 a.m., the fog began to clear and a weak sunshine appeared, yet the chill persisted.

The fog also affected normal life. Vehicles were seen crawling on the roads in the morning. People faced a lot of difficulties in commuting. Visibility was recorded less than 20 metres in many districts. According to the Meteorological Department, Hardoi, Kanpur Nagar and Ayodhya had the coldest night. The minimum temperature in all three districts was recorded at four degrees Celsius. Due to the effect of western disturbance, there is a possibility of fog and cold days with a slight increase in minimum temperature in the coming days. On the other hand, there is a possibility of scattered rain in the western districts on 22nd and 23rd January.

As of Saturday, January 17, 2026, Uttar Pradesh is experiencing severe winter conditions with official alerts for fog and “cold day” conditions.
