UP poll body spells out steps if your name is missing from draft roll

Last month, Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa told news agency PTI that voters whose names have been deleted and are listed as “untraceable” or “missing” will have to produce evidence that their names appeared in the 2003 SIR list or submit any of the documents prescribed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to get their names re-included in the electoral roll.

Rinwa also said that the ECI will invite objections to the inclusion of approximately 12.55 crore names in the draft electoral roll. Such objections can be raised by submitting Form 7.

If an objection against a name in the draft list is found to be legitimate, that name may be deleted from the electoral roll.

Forms can be submitted online through voters.eci.gov.in or the ECINET app. Alternatively, voters can apply offline by visiting their booth-level officer (BLO).

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday published the draft electoral roll of Uttar Pradesh after the conclusion of the enumeration stage of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), deleting about 2.89 crore voters in the state.

The electoral roll, which had 15.44 crore voters, was reduced by 2.89 crore to 12.55 crore after the revision, said Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa.
