A massive outage has crippled multiple online gaming services, including ARC Raiders, Fortnite, Among Us

A massive outage has crippled several online gaming services, including ARC Raiders, Fortnite, Among Us, Rocket League, and other Epic Games titles. The disruption on Wednesday continues to affect thousands, with Downdetector reporting more than 35,000 user complaints for ARC Raiders and 4,000 for AWS.

Current Status

Epic Games Services: Epic’s status page (status.epicgames.com) notes that as of recently, Fortnite, Rocket League,Fall Guys, and Epic Online Services (EOS) remained down.

Fortnite: Login failures and ‘Servers Not Responding’ errors persist, with the Epic Games Store also affected for purchases.

ARC Raiders: The ART00004 error continues, exacerbated by the Cold Snap event’s traffic. No updates from @ARCRaidersGame.

Among Us: Innersloth’s @AmongUsGame did not address the outage.

Other affected titles: Rocket League, Fall Guys, Dead by Daylight, Elden Ring, Palworld, and Amazon’s own Throne and Liberty and Lost Ark are also down.

Raiders Meanwhile, AWS issued a statement saying there was no outage. “No, that’s false. AWS services are operating normally today, but an event elsewhere on the internet has prompted some inaccurate speculation on social media. The only resource on the internet that provides accurate data on the availability of our services is the #AWS Health Dashboard.”

What to do

Monitor status: Check status.epicgames.com, Downdetector.com, or X (@FortniteStatus, @EpicGames) for real-time updates.

Avoid Repeated Logins: Spamming attempts risk account flags.

Wait It Out: Server-side issues (ART00004, EAC errors) requiring AWS/Epic fixes. Retrying later is most effective.

Check Local Fixes: For EAC errors, verify game files (Steam/Epic) or reinstall EAC, though these are unlikely to help during an outage.

Users frustrated

Meanwhile, several gamers complained about the outage on social media. “Who else keeps checking arc raiders on twitter hoping people are saying servers are back up,” one person wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“I managed to launch the game and join a match but keep getting the same error and can’t reconnect. If you do join a match YOU WILL LOSE YOUR ITEMS.” Another one added.

Arc Raiders has been facing a significant outage in the US. Thousands of players across the country have reported problems with the multiplayer extraction adventure set in a lethal future Earth. According to the outage-tracking site Downdetector, downtime peaked around 7.30 am IST, when more than 45,000 players reported issues with the game. However, the number of reports has declined since then, but the game remains offline.
At the time of writing, over 21,000 users still report facing problems with the game. Reports suggested that the extraction shooter game’s servers are currently offline, as players are reporting login failures, long queues, and getting stuck on loading screens.

How the Arc Raiders outage is affecting users

According to Downdetector, 95% of users have reported issues with server connections, while 4% and 1% have reported matchmaking and latency (lag) issues, respectively. Several Reddit threads on r/Arc Raiders are discussing the outage.
Embark, the studio behind Arc Raiders, is believed to be aware of the issue and is working on a fix, but no timeline has been shared for when the game will return online. Arc Raiders also experienced an outage in late November. The cause of the current disruption remains unclear, although it might be linked to increased player activity during the holiday period.

Fortnite servers down: Players attempting to access Fortnite on PlayStation 5, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices are facing widespread connection issues. Many report receiving error messages such as “An error occurred while connecting to Epic Servers” or “Unable to login to Fortnite Servers. Please try again later.” These login failures prevent players from advancing past the sign-in screen, effectively locking them out from both the popular Battle Royale and Zero Build modes during one of the year’s peak gaming periods.

According to the Red94 website, multiple outage-tracking services have reported a sharp spike in problem reports earlier today, with more than 700 players confirming issues on community forums. Epic Games’ official public status page has acknowledged the problem and confirmed that its team is actively investigating the authentication failure affecting Epic Online Services

About the game

Fortnite is a global online multiplayer game where players compete in Battle Royale, build structures and fight to be the last one standing. It also has creative modes and regular in-game events, making it a cultural phenomenon in gaming.

The outage is widespread, affecting every platform where Fortnite is available. Players on consoles and PCs are reporting identical login failures, highlighting that the problem is server-side rather than local to individual devices.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has clarified that its services are operating normally and there is no outage. The cloud computing network dismissed speculation about a service disruption as inaccurate, stating that such claims were made because of an “event” elsewhere on the internet

“AWS services are operating normally today, but an event elsewhere on the internet has prompted some inaccurate speculation on social media. The only resource on the internet that provides accurate data on the availability of our services is the #AWS Health Dashboard.”

The statement was made by the network on X, in response to a post claiming that the AWS had crashed.

The clarification comes amid widespread reports of an AWS outage on social media and users claiming disruptions across multiple online gaming services, including ARC Raiders, Fortnite, Rocket League, and other Epic Games titles.

Users experience login failures and matchmaking errors with Fortnite and Epic Games, and messages like “Servers Not Responding” also pop up. Players of Rocket League were also unable to log in or join matches, with errors linked to Epic Online Services (EOS) timeouts.

Similar AWS outage complaints were made back in October as some of the world’s most popular websites and applications saw disruptions for hours, disrupting global businesses and troubling users.

The failure was later traced to a technical fault in AWS’s core network, and messaging apps such as Snapchat, WhatsApp, Signal, and Reddit were among platforms hit due to the outage.
