He claimed that the US had carried out “massive attacks against Venezuela” and “captured its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, and his wife.”

Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez has demanded proof that the country’s president is alive, as Maduro remains untraceable.

Donald Trump announces, Venezuela demands proof

Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social, “The United States has successfully launched a massive attack against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been captured and taken out of the country along with his wife.”

Trump wrote, “This operation was conducted in collaboration with US law enforcement. Details will be released soon. There will be a press conference at Mar-a-Lago at 11 am today.”

US officials have told BBC affiliate CBS News that President Maduro and his wife were captured by the US Army’s Delta Force.

Delta Force is the US military’s largest counter-terrorism unit.

Meanwhile,Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez has said that the government has no information about President Maduro or First Lady Cilia Flores.

She further stated that the government has demanded “immediate proof” that both are alive.

What has Venezuela said?

There is still much information unknown about the attacks in Venezuela.

For example, how much damage has been caused to military infrastructure in these attacks and how many people have been killed?

Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez said the government was gathering information about the dead and injured. He alleged that the attacks occurred in residential areas where civilians live.

He also said Venezuela would “oppose” the presence of foreign troops.

Apart from this, the Defense Minister of Venezuela has announced immediate deployment of military forces across the country.

In a video message speaking in Spanish, Vladimir Padrino López called on the public to unite and resist in the face of the “biggest attack” ever against Venezuela. He said Venezuela was following “Maduro’s orders” to deploy all armed forces.

The Defence Minister said, “They have attacked us but they will not be able to subdue us.”

According to eyewitnesses, the military airport La Carlota and the main military base Fuerte Tiuna, located in the heart of the city, were also affected. Videos of the blasts at both places have also surfaced.

Meanwhile, BBC’s US-based news partner CBS News has quoted sources as saying thatTrump administration officials are aware of reports of explosions and planes flying over Venezuela’s capital Caracas early Saturday.

This development comes after weeks of pressure from the Trump administration on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

The US President alleges that the Venezuelan President is involved in drug trafficking and spreading crime in America.

US President Donald Trump has claimed that America has detained Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife. This action…

US President Donald Trump has made a shocking claim, announcing that the US has arrested Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cieli.

The US has arrested Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. President Donald Trump made a major claim early Saturday, saying the US has carried out a large-scale military operation in Venezuela, detaining President Nicolas Maduro and his wife and taking them out of the country. Trump made this statement on his social media platform. He said that this action has been taken in collaboration with American law enforcement agencies. According to Trump, detailed information about this entire operation will be given through a press conference in a few hours. Maduro has been arrested by the US Delta Force.

Was Maduro about to flee to China?

Trump was continuously increasing pressure on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. The US had deployed a large military presence in the Caribbean. Drug boats were being attacked frequently. Seeing this, Maduro had indicated that he was ready to negotiate on sensitive issues like drug trafficking and oil. In an interview with Venezuelan state TV, Maduro stated his readiness to negotiate with the US. He added that the US could negotiate wherever and whenever it wished. On Friday, he met Chinese special envoy Qiu Xiaoqi in Caracas. There is speculation that China was aware of such an attack and offered to expel President Nicolas Maduro from the country. However, he was arrested before he could leave for China.

Just hours before this claim, loud explosions were heard in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. According to eyewitnesses, the sounds of explosions were heard in several areas of the city for an hour and a half, from around 2 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Fighter planes were seen flying in the sky and black smoke was seen at many places. Power went out around a large military base in the southern part of the city. People got scared and came out on the streets and started making videos with their mobile phones. Videos posted on social media clearly show bright lights and smoke rising from the explosions.

The Venezuelan government said in a statement that the attacks were not limited to Caracas but also targeted military bases in the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira. Following this, President Maduro declared a national state of emergency and put security forces on full alert. However, the biggest surprise now is whether Trump’s army has really arrested him?

The US has not made such a direct intervention in Latin America since it invaded Panama in 1989 to depose the then-military leader Manuel Noreiga.

If Maduro has been forcefully removed from Venezuela, as Trump says, this will be seen as a huge win among some of the more hawkish figures in the US administration – some of whom have openly supported regime change.

The US has accused Maduro of leading a criminal narco-trafficking organisation, something he denies.

It also does not recognize him as the legitimate president of Venezuela after the 2024 elections were widely rejected as neither free nor fair.

For its part, Venezuela has accused the US of wanting to steal its profitable oil reserves – which are thought to be the biggest in the world.

Venezuelan

What is really unclear is what happens now in Venezuela itself if Maduro is actually gone.

Supporters of US intervention have argued it would pave the way for the Venezuelan opposition to take over, lead by Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Corina Machado or the opposition candidate from 2024, Edmundo Gonzalez.
