Pakistan make it two in two score card Putting in bat,Pakistan were quick off the blocks against the USA in Colombo. Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan picked their moments well, taking Pakistan past the 50-mark in the fifth over. Shadley van Schalkwyk not only slowed down the scoring rate, but also provided USA a double breakout. He had Ayub miscue a shot to Saurabh Netrawalkar, cutting short a promising innings, and then sent back captain Salman Agha five balls later. Pakistan ended powerplay at 56/2. Farhan’s presence was crucial to the Pakistan rebuild. He stitched an 81-run partnership with Babar Azam with some sensible batting and fantastic running between the wickets. Although Azam was dismissed for a well-paced 46, Farhan brought up his first half-century in T20 World Cups, scoring 73 off just 41 balls with the help of six fours and five sixes.
While a smart catch by Sanjay Krishnamurthi, off Harmeet Singh, sent Farhan packing, Shadab Khan ensured that Pakistan’s scoring rate didn’t drop too much, scoring 30 off 12. In an effort to score quick runs at the end, Pakistan ended up losing five wickets in the space of 10 balls to finish at 190/9.
In his second spell, Van Schalkwyk claimed two wickets in an over once more to finish with figures of 4/25.
The USA openers kickstarted their pursuit of 191 on a positive note inside the powerplay against Pakistan. The duo added 42 runs for the opening wicket.
However, Mohammad Nawaz finished their partnership, breaking the deadlock for Pakistan in his first over.

Shadab Khan then struck twice in quick succession. First, he nabbed the all-important catch of USA captain Monank Patel off his own bowling.
The wicket was swiftly folleywed by the dismissal of Shayan Jahangir, who was looking in rhythm during his knock of 49.
Shubham Ranjane and Milind Kumar then combined to add a decisive 54-run stand for the fourth wicket. However, just as the two appeared to be in position to switch gears, Usman Tariq brought Pakistan right back into the game with his first wicket.
Tariq then went on to snap two wickets off two deliveries as Pakistan tightened their hold. Losing wickets at one end, Ranjane went on to score a resilient half-century.
However, the bowlers ensured there wasn’t any late twist in the tale as Pakistan sealed the deal by 32 runs.
New Zealand storm past UAE
score card
New Zealand continued their impressive run at the T20 World Cup as they scored a 10-wicket victory over UAE in Chennai on Tuesday.
UAE captain Muhammad Waseem won the toss and elected to bat first. Playing their first match of the World Cup, UAE put up a spirited show with the bat, finishing at 173/6.
Despite losing Aryansh Sharma early, UAE motorized to 50/1 in powerplay as captain Waseem and Alishan Sharafu relieved the pressure with some big hits.
They put on 107, which is the second-highest second-wicket partnership for the UAE in T20Is. The Kerala-born Sharafu scored 55 off just 47 balls, with the help of five fours and two sixes.
New Zealand pegged them back with two quick wickets. Captain Mitchell Santner dismissed Sharafu while Glenn Phillips sent back Harshit Kaushik in the space of 10 balls and five runs, reducing UAE to 124/3.
Despite the setback, Waseem continued to plunder runs. The UAE captain carried the bat through for an unbeaten 66 off 45 balls, slammed four fours and three sixes during the innings. Mayank Kumar also chipped in with a cameo of 21.

Pakistan and New Zealand
Matt Henry snapped two wickets off the last two balls of the innings, while Jacob Duffy, Santner, Lockie Ferguson and Phillips claimed a wicket each.
Unbeaten in Chennai in any format since 2011, New Zealand flexed their muscles in the chase. They hit fifth gear in the second over, and were relentless in chase. With Tim Seifert and Finn Allen in punishment mood, New Zealand put on 78/0 in the first six overs, including 20 in the sixth over. It was just the start the Kiwis needed to thwart any hopes of an upset being pulled off by the UAE.
Seifert brought up his 50 in 23 balls, making it the second-fastest century of the World Cup so far. There was no respite at the other end for UAE, as Allen continued to stand and deliver, racing to 50 in 27 balls.
Whereas Seifert finished unbeaten on 89 (42 balls, 12 fours, three sixes), Allen was not out on 84 (50 balls, five fours and five sixes) as New Zealand romped to 175/0 in 15.2 overs. Fittingly, Seifert brought up victory with a six after dancing down the pitch. The 175-run stand between Sefert and Allen was the highest partnership for any wicket in men’s T20 World Cup history.
It was New Zealand’s second consecutive win at the T20 World Cup 2026 and saw them climb atop Group D standings.
