Political commentator Dhruv Rathee has hinted at another explosive video targeting a blockbuster film, with social media users convinced that his remarks are aimed at Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar.
Political commentator and YouTuber Dhruv Rathee has once again found himself at the center of a fresh Bollywood controversy. Without naming the film directly, Rathee on Saturday hinted that his next video would “destroy a Rs 300 crore propaganda film”, a statement widely interpreted as a dig at Dhurandhar. This Ranveer Singh-led spy thriller recently crossed the Rs 300 crore mark at the domestic box office.
The tweet has sparked heated reactions online, with supporters and critics gearing up for yet another clash between the content creator and the makers of the movie.
What exactly did Dhruv Rathee say?
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Rathee wrote, “It takes 1 YouTube video to destroy a Rs 300 crore propaganda film. And I guarantee you that the MELTDOWN after this video will be so bad. They’re not ready for this. Releasing tonight ;)”.
Though he avoided naming the film, the timing of the tweet and the box office reference left little room for speculation. Many users in the replies immediately linked the statement to Dhurandhar, which was released on December 5 and has since emerged as one of the biggest commercial successes of the year.
In a post on social media platform X on Saturday, he claimed that the single’s upcoming video will “destroy this Rs 300-crore propaganda film”.

Political commentator and digital content creator Dhruv Rathee has once again triggered debate surrounding the blockbuster spy thriller ‘Dhurandhar’, hinting at a fresh critique without directly naming the film.
In a post on social media platform X on Saturday, he claimed that a single upcoming video would “destroy a Rs 300-crore propaganda film”. Although he avoided mentioning any title, the remark was widely interpreted as a reference to ‘Dhurandhar’, which has recently crossed the Rs 300-crore mark at the domestic box office.

Several users responding to Rathee’s post speculated that his comment was aimed at the Ranveer Singh-led film, which is quickly emerging as the highest-earning Indian release of the year. The film, which hit theaters on December 5, has so far earned over Rs 480 crore net in India and approximately Rs 740 crore worldwide, according to industry estimates.
Renewed clash with director Aditya Dhar
Dhruv Rathee’s latest remark comes weeks after he publicly criticized Dhurandhar director Aditya Dhar following the release of the movie’s trailer in November. At that time, Rathee strongly objected to the depiction of graphic violence in the promo, arguing that such imagery crossed ethical boundaries in mainstream cinema.
He accused the filmmaker of normalizing brutality for commercial gain and warned that excessive violence could negatively influence younger audiences by desensitizing them to cruelty.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar features Ranveer Singh as an Indian intelligence operative operating undercover in Pakistan’s Lyari region, where he infiltrates criminal syndicates linked to terrorist networks. While the film has been widely praised for its performances, scale and technical execution, its political messaging has drawn divided reactions.
Actor Hrithik Roshan, who publicly reviewed the film, praised its cinematic craft but noted his disagreement with certain political undertones.
The movie also stars Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt in key roles. A sequel to the film has already been announced, with Part Two scheduled for release in March 2026.

Political commentator and content creator Dhruv Rathee has apparently attacked Dhurandhar once again, or at least promised to. Without naming the film, Rathee tweeted on Saturday that one of his videos will ‘destroy a ₹300 crore propaganda film’, a not-so-veiled dig at Dhurandhar, which crossed the ₹300 crore mark at the domestic box office a few days ago. Rathee had earlier criticized director Aditya Dhar for the violence in the film after the trailer had released in November.
Dhruv Rathee vows to destroy Dhurandhar
On Saturday afternoon, taking to X (formerly Twitter), Rathee wrote that he will be releasing a video on the film soon: “It takes 1 YouTube video to destroy a ₹300 crore propaganda film. And I guarantee you that the MELTDOWN after this video will be so bad. They’re not ready for this. Releasing tonight ;).”
While he did not name the film, many in the replies tweeted that it must be about Dhurandhar, the Ranveer Singh-starrer which is on course to become the highest-grossing Indian film of the year. The spy thriller, which released on December 5, has minted more than ₹480 crore net in India and ₹740 crore gross worldwide.
Dhruv Rathee’s war of words with Aditya Dhar
This is not Rathee’s first attack on Dhurandhar. In November, after the film’s trailer opened with a gory torture scene, he had criticized the film’s director. “Aditya Dhar has truly crossed a limit of cheapness in Bollywood. The extreme violence, gore and torture shown in his latest film trailer is the equivalent of watching ISIS beheadings and calling it “entertainment”, “he wrote. Further criticizing the film, Rathee added, “His lust for money is so unhinged that he is willingly poisoning the minds of the younger generation, desensitizing them to gore and glorifying unimaginable torture.”

About Dhurandhar
Dhurandhar stars Ranveer as an Indian spy in Pakistan’s Lyari, infiltrating the gangs there to dismantle their ties with Pakistan’s terrorist network. The film received praise for its performances and technical details, but many criticized its politics. Even Hrithik Roshan, in his review of the movie, praised it but added that he did not agree with its politics.
Dhurandhar also stars Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, and Sanjay Dutt. Part-2 will be released in March 2026.
