Millions of Italians and Spaniards rallied in Rome, Barcelona and Madrid against Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, a show of growing international anger over the two-year-old war.
More than a million people join anti-Israel protests in Italy; thousands also take to the streets in several Turkish cities

The demonstrations were planned in almost every major Spanish city weeks ago. The largest demonstrations in Rome came after Israel blocked a humanitarian aid convoy from Barcelona in an attempt to break the blockade of the Palestinian territories.

The protests in southern Europe come as Hamas says it has accepted some of the terms of a plan outlined by US President Donald Trump to end the war.

The war has left Gaza City facing a famine. Israel has been accused of genocide. Rome police said 250,000 people took part in demonstrations in Italy for a second day in a row. Organisers said 1 million people had taken part. More than 2 million people took part in a one-day general strike in Italy on Friday in support of Palestinians in Gaza.

In Spain, officials said 100,000 people rallied in Madrid and 70,000 in Barcelona. Organizers of the Madrid rally claimed 400,000 people attended, while Barcelona organizers said 300,000 took part.

Activists urged Spaniards to also hold rallies in Valencia, Seville, Malaga and other cities. Smaller rallies were held in Paris, Lisbon, Athens and Skopje in North Macedonia, as well as in London and Manchester in England.
